Walking through the countryside, taking a dip in the pond or pool, cycling, enjoying a massage, eating fruit from our trees, or meeting our beloved animals... There's lots to do and plenty of time to appreciate nature at Cucumbi.
These are some of our suggestions!
Meals are designed to minimize their environmental impact. That's why our restaurant serves delicious and nutritious vegetarian dishes created by our chefs using organic, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients from our garden, harvested right outside the kitchen.
We offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner, featuring organic eggs from our happy chickens, vegetables from our garden, and honey from our bees, accompanied by a selection of local and national products.
We always have vegan options available and adapt all dishes to our guests' dietary restrictions and preferences.
With over 100 hectares, Cucumbi provides the perfect setting for a family countryside adventure.
Connecting with nature begins the moment we step out to breathe the fresh air: native vegetation, fruit trees, cultivated areas, greenhouses...
Every step is a learning experience in natural sciences.
With feet (and hands) in the soil, kids (and maybe even adults) will learn and make many friends among the farm animals, including dogs, cats, chickens, sheep, and donkeys.
In the chicken coop, near the greenhouse, you'll find our chickens lovingly cared for by D. Custódia.
Here at Cucumbi, the chickens have plenty of outdoor space to roam. During the day, they freely enjoy the countryside, but in the evening, they are gently encouraged to return to their houses for a peaceful night away from foxes and eagles.
These are just a few details of their daily routine that provide them with calm and tranquility, resulting in the most delicious and nutritious eggs.
Our kitchen is open to all guests eager for organic and healthy recipes, where meals, friendships, and lifelong memories are made.
We aim to bring out the natural flavors of ingredients in dishes like tomato soup, vegetarian lasagna, or mushroom risotto.
For the younger ones, it's an opportunity to unleash their imagination and help prepare ingredients harvested from the garden
Then, it's time to season to taste and enjoy together as a family, away from screens that can interfere with appetite.
In the heart of Barrancão village, saltwater swims aren't just a coastal dream. Cucumbi's saltwater pool combines the best of the Alentejo landscape with the pleasure of feeling the sun-dried salt on your skin (slowly, to the rhythm of the sun).
The pergola, sun umbrellas, and nearby trees provide shade during the hottest hours of your vacation in Portugal. The deck, furnished with cushions and loungers around the pool (open year-round), invites lively conversations, reading, or even family card games, all between refreshing dips.
...and harvesting vegetables without fear of getting your hands dirty. One of the great pleasures of being on a farm is what the land provides us. Both kids and adults have the full experience at Cucumbi: according to the season, they are invited to participate in plantings and harvests. After seeing a cherry plum or orange on the tree, a strawberry plant sprouting, or a pumpkin ready to be picked, the whole family will want to learn more about the origins of food.
