Cucumbi is located in the heart of Alentejo, in a small village called Barrancão near Santa Susana, a relatively isolated place between two towns, counting barely 50 inhabitants whose average age is around 65 years old.

Cucumbi is a family estate nestled on 118 acres of land, passed on by one of Catarina and ToZé’s parents, the owners.

This location is thought of as a country house, a restored farmhouse that has been transformed into a stylish, simple, and organic guesthouse. In a natural and minimalist decor, white is the dominant shade. A few touches of wood, rattan lamps, beautiful materials, and carefully chosen vintage objects create a soft and intimate mood. There are several cosy and welcoming spaces to settle down, with comfortable sofas, fireplaces, and lifestyle magazines.

Cucumbi features 7 rooms, each different from one another, and each with its own bathroom.

Breakfasts are served with organic products from the house’s vegetable garden, offering a healthy culinary experience. Catarina and ToZé have installed solar energy panels and a water filtration system in order to respect the environment and to live more in harmony with nature. They grow organic vegetables and raise their hens in the open air. Their small production of eggs and vegetables to eat is a delight for guests. There is a large swimming pool, a wooden deck, and deckchairs to relax. Bicycles are available to visit and discover the region and other countryside scenery in Portugal. You will also find a small store with products made by local artisans.

Across the vast fields of the Alentejo, far from the hustle and bustle of the city, Cucumbi offers a retreat where you’ll get a taste of the simple life. Slowlife at its best.
